Hollywood
has an interesting perspective
on NAMES.
Hollywood writers usually select character names very carefully. Take, for example, the Will Smith movie "Hitch". Smith's character is named Hitch, which likely has a double-meaning. The first meaning is obvious: Hitch helps people get "hitched" in his capacity as a date doctor. The second likely meaning is a reference to Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock, or "Hitch", as he was called, was famous for his ability to orchestrate human behavior within his projects. And Smith's character most certainly orchestrated human behavior.
Another character in the movie, Cressida, plays Hitch's first girlfriend ... whom he eventually finds making out with another man in a car. The name Cressida is originally found in mythology. It was the name of a Trojan woman who is unfaithful to her lover, and leaves him for another man.
Hollywood actors, unlike writers, aren't always so careful in their naming duties. (Indeed, celebrities are notorious for being "bad namers".) But their baby name choices are usually interesting, nonetheless. Please read The Baby Name Workbook to find a further discussion of names in Hollywood.
